Eczema Relief – Neosporin Essentials

The boys and I all suffer from eczema. Really from the trifecta – eczema, asthma, and allergies. They all seem to go hand in hand. The boys haven’t seemed to be as bad off this winter as I have. I’ve been itchy all over, and the patches on my knees and elbows have been horrific. They’re just ashy, scaly, dry, itchy, grossness this winter.

I was really excited to get to try the Neosporin Essentials skin care line. The Neosporin Eczema Essentials Daily Moisturizing Cream claimed that in just three days I’d see improvement. I did. I applied the lotion to one elbow to show the difference. The skin on both arms is still very dry. I haven’t applied lotion yet today. But, that nasty scaly patch on the right elbow is all but gone. On my left elbow, it’s still nasty and scaly with just using my regular lotion. I’d say after a week of keeping the Neosporin Essentials lotion close by and applying it every time my elbow itched, or I had that icky feeling when it would catch on my shirt.

I tried the Neosporin Essentials Daily Body Wash as well. I applied liberally to my exfoliating mitt and used all over my body in the shower. After just one application, and applying lotion to my whole body after my shower, I noticed a difference. I even broke the cardinal rule of having eczema and took a HOT shower because my muscles and joints were really sore that day. For this, I used my regular lotion, which is not the Neosporin Essentials since I was only provided a sample size and I didn’t have enough after my elbow experiment. My body drinks lotion like it’s water, so I must apply liberally, and prefer lotion in a tub for all over my body.

I was also given a sample of the Anti Itch Cream to try. It has 1% hydrocortisone in it. I didn’t feel I was so itchy that I needed a hydrocortisone cream, so I didn’t use it.

I think for the price in stores, the Neosporin Essentials Daily Moisturizing Cream is worth it, but I’d pass on the Anti Itch Cream. If you already have a body wash that’s working for you, I wouldn’t change that either. If you can’t find one, I’d give the Neosporin Essentials a try because those of us with eczema know it’s all trial and error and finding that right combination of productions for your skin.
